Gunridge House is a nod to a real location that holds personal meaning. It is a remote coastal place where my father is the sole resident. For over 40 years he has lived a rustic, fully off-grid life, surrounded by forest and the raw beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. That kind of lifestyle has had significant influence on my own approach to mindful living. There is a different pace and productivity to each day that really appeals to me.
All around us in nature is the LORD's fingerprint in everything needed to build a house and create a home. The biodiversity of forest, coupled with the lasting functionality of natural materials, inspired me to build this company to help the intentionality of daily routines through beautiful, lasting wood-based items. Wood is a natural material that traps carbon dioxide, is microbial and 100% biodegradable. Every ring in a tree holds history in a story of the weather and years of development. Wood is just remarkable. Even the most builder-grade city apartment establishes a warm, welcoming aesthetic when wood is present.
Gunridge House products offer a meaningful alternative to mass-produced goods. I make all the products on this website, and source from up-cycled and salvaged hardwoods. True to my enjoyment of designing, crafting and packaging with intention, I would like every customer to experience the arrival of a Gunridge House shipment as if they are opening a gift. Every product is thoughtfully gift-ready wrapped with an option to include a handwritten note, penned by Gunridge House. Handwritten messages are becoming a rare treasure. All packaging is eco-conscious and 100% biodegradable with a more useful alternative to plastic box filler. Cured pinecones, sourced in Québec, replace traditional styrofoam to secure Gunridge House products from shifting during transport. It is a little extra something in every box to serve well in your home for display.
